Tarvas sculpture
Situated close to the Order Castle on Vallimägi hill, there is the Statue of Tarvas which gave the name to the Tarvapää Fortress and the town.
According to Rakvere's historical name, Tarvanpää, a magnificent statue Tarvas was completed for the city's 700th anniversary. The author of the work is sculptor Tauno Kangro. The bronze sculpture Tarvas is 7.1 meters long and 5 meters high with a base. The names of the persons who donated for the statue are written on the granite base.
Archaeological excavations provide evidence that such animals have indeed once lived in Rakvere. Tarvas is also a symbol of Rakvere and the city's slogan is "Full of Power".
